Charity
This is Fever have been proud supporters of the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation for many years. The charity provides practical, emotional and financial support for teenagers and young adults affected by cancer and fund a research project.
A longstanding partnership
The foundation was founded in memory of Tom Bowdidge, who died of a Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour and extensive peritoneal disease at the age of 19.
The charity continues the fundraising and awareness that Tom had started and to date, the charity has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to develop targeted treatments, create age-appropriate spaces in hospitals and provide direct support to young people with cancer and their families.
Evolving the brand
After creating the original logo and branding for the charity, our support has grown over the years to include the brochures for their annual Feather Ball and most recently, a brand-new website with enhanced fundraising capabilities.
The feather is used extensively throughout the brand to represent a symbol of spirit. The blue colour is used frequently throughout the charity sector due to its connotations of trust. More recently, we introduced a shade of pink as a secondary colour, an evolution that came organically from the brochures for the inaugural Feather Ball. We used overlays on the website to inject the brand colours into photography on the site.
Keeping the goal in mind
The website needed to achieve the following key objectives.
- Feature prominent fundraising opportunities and a streamlined fundraising process.
- Perform optimally on all devices.
- Generate revenue through an eCommerce shop.
The existing website featured outdated technology and its performance was starting to decline. Additionally, the sitemap and user flow had become complicated due to the way the site’s content had grown over the years.
Integral to any charity organisation, the donation page needed to be enticing and clear. Using the Stripe payment gateway, users can donate securely, easily and quickly.
To ensure that users have the best possible experience, we optimised the images on the site, we have extensive experience hosting WordPress WooCommerce sites, and we took the site’s performance score from a 54% to 93% (Pagespeed Insights, Google).
We upgraded the foundation’s shop just in time for a highly successful launch of the charity’s Christmas range. By utilising WooCommerce’s product variations, the shopping experience has been vastly improved for the customer, improving the chances of increasing the average transaction value (ATV, a key metric for eCommerce stores).
Unafraid to get our hands dirty
In addition to our digital and creative support, we also get stuck in to the charity’s fundraising activities. Our project manager Ben White took part in a Nuclear assault course and raised over £300 for the charity.
